Key takeaways
- Fly into Hurghada International Airport (HRG); the ride to Al Hilal and the kite school takes about 15 minutes.
- Our partner transfer costs €30 one way or €50 return, per car for up to 4 guests.
- Visa: US$25 as an e-visa bought online in advance, or US$30 on arrival (prices checked October 2026).
- Rules depend on your nationality — always check your government’s current travel advice before booking.
One of the best things about Hurghada as a kite destination is how little time you lose getting there. Many European cities have direct or one-stop flights to HRG, and the spot is a short drive from the airport.
Flights
Hurghada International Airport (HRG) is served by scheduled and charter airlines from much of Europe, often with direct flights in high season. Prices and routes change a lot with the season, so compare a few dates.
From the airport to the spot
The kite school is on the beach of Sea Star Beau Rivage in Al Hilal, and Al Dora Residence is a few minutes away. From the airport it is about a 15-minute drive.
- Partner transfer: €30 one way or €50 return, per car for up to 4 guests — a driver meets you at arrivals.
- Taxi: available outside the terminal; agree the price before you get in.
- Within Al Hilal: the school is a short walk or a short taxi ride from Al Dora.
The visa
Most European visitors need a tourist visa for Hurghada. There are two common ways to get one:
- E-visa: US$25, bought online in advance on the official site visa2egypt.gov.eg. Apply about a week before you travel or earlier.
- Visa on arrival: US$30 since March 2026, bought at the official kiosks in the arrivals hall before passport control. Bring cash, ideally US dollars.
Both are tourist visas for a stay of up to 30 days. Rules and fees change and depend on your nationality, so check your government’s travel advice before booking.
Buy the e-visa a week ahead and you walk straight to passport control.
Before you fly
- Passport validity: many countries require at least six months beyond your arrival date — check the rule for your nationality.
- Travel insurance that covers kitesurfing and other water sports.
- Your booking confirmations on your phone: school, accommodation, transfer.
- A little cash for the visa on arrival, tips and small purchases.
